Onalenna Candy Godie

General Manager | Sandfire Motheo Operations

Onalenna Candy Godie is the General Manager of Sandfire Motheo Operations. Her mining career began in 2018 as a Learner Official at Jwaneng Mine, progressing to Mining Manager with experience across drilling, blasting, loading and hauling, pit maintenance, and mine planning. She later completed a secondment in South Africa as a Senior Mining Manager at Voorspoed and Venetia Mines, gaining exposure to both open-pit and underground operations. She then moved to Mozambique, joining Kenmare Moma Mine as Mine Manager and advancing to Operations Manager/Alternate General Manager. Onalenna holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and has completed a General Management Programme at GIBS, University of Pretoria. Her international experience across Botswana, South Africa, and Mozambique has shaped a leadership style focused on safety, people, and operational excellence. She is committed to strengthening a safety-driven, people-centered culture while ensuring accountability, operational discipline, and sustainable performance. Her goal is to build leadership capacity and stakeholder confidence for long-term success. Outside of work, Onalenna is guided by her faith and is passionate about community engagement, mentoring women and girls, and supporting the underprivileged. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. Onalenna’ s motto is Integrity, service, and excellence in all I do.
