Onneile Nelly Maripe is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Growth
Consultancy (Pty) Ltd, a Botswana-based professional accounting, advisory, governance,
and sustainability firm committed to strengthening financial leadership and business
growth within Botswana’s evolving economy. Through her leadership, the firm continues
to contribute meaningfully to the development of the accounting and advisory landscape
in Botswana while fostering strategic collaborations with both local and international
institutions, including professional partnerships with firms such as Baker Tilly Botswana,
where she also serves as an Audit Consultant.
Her professional journey was significantly shaped by the opportunity to work within
Botswana’s mining sector through Debswana Diamond Company, where she gained
deep exposure to the rough diamond mining value chain, financial governance, treasury,
sustainability integration, and operational excellence within one of the world’s leading
diamond producers. She credits the mining industry for providing the platform that
broadened her strategic perspective and strengthened her passion for Botswana’s natural
resources sector.
Driven by a growing interest in the diamond ecosystem and citizen participation within the
industry, Onneile continues to actively explore opportunities across the mining value
chain. In January 2026, she participated in the FACETS Sri Lanka Expo, one of South
Asia’s leading gem and jewellery exhibitions, where she engaged with international
diamond dealers, manufacturers, educators, and industry stakeholders across the
upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the global diamond industry.
She was also selected as one of only 20 entrepreneurs for the prestigious De Beers
Diamond Industry Entrepreneurship Programme, an initiative aimed at developing
emerging leaders and citizen entrepreneurs within the diamond industry. These
experiences continue to deepen her commitment to citizen empowerment, beneficiation,
and sustainable participation in Botswana’s mining economy.
Onneile is an active member of Women in Mining Botswana and has been involved with
the organisation for the past three years, advocating for increased female participation,
leadership, and visibility within the mining and extractives sector.
In recognition of her expertise, Onneile served as a speaker at the Botswana Mining Show
2025, where she addressed the topic “Responsible Mining: Practical Insights in
Accounting & Reporting for Sustainable Mining.” Drawing on her experience across the
accounting and mining sectors, she advocates for the integration of ESG principles,
rehabilitation provisions, and IFRS sustainability standards into mining operations to
ensure long-term, shared value in Botswana.
Beyond her entrepreneurial work, Onneile currently serves as President of the Botswana
Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), where she provides strategic leadership to the
accounting profession and contributes to strengthening governance, ethics, and
professional excellence in Botswana. She also serves as a Council Member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and sits on the Board
of Botswana Accountancy College.
Her additional governance roles include serving as an Independent Trustee of the Stanbic
Bank Botswana Pension Fund and as an Independent Non-Executive Director of JTTM
Properties (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Letlole La Rona Limited, where she contributes to
governance, financial oversight, risk management, and sustainability discussions.
Passionate about leadership development and youth empowerment, Onneile is deeply
motivated by creating opportunities for young people to realise their potential and
participate meaningfully in Botswana’s economic transformation.
