Meet Our Speaker: Ms. Obonye Malope
Ms. Obonye Malope is a distinguished Marketing & Communications Manager, currently serving at NMG Administrators Botswana since 01 May 2024. With over 20 years of banking and marketing management experience, Obonye is a recognized PR and marketing practitioner in Botswana, having held executive management positions at both Absa Bank Botswana and FNB Botswana.
Obonye's career is marked by significant accomplishments. She served as the Head of Marketing and Corporate Relations for Absa Botswana, joining Barclays Bank of Botswana in the same position in March 2019. In this role, she oversaw the largest rebrand exercise in Botswana's history, transitioning Barclays Bank and Barclays Life to the Absa brand.
Prior to her role at Absa, Obonye worked at FNB Botswana as the Director of Marketing & Communications. Here, she was responsible for developing and implementing the bank's long-term marketing and communications vision, covering RMB and WesBank. She also served as the Exco Sponsor and Administrative Head for the FNB Botswana Foundation, leading the review of its strategy to align it with the bank's strategic focus areas and fostering shared value principles.
Obonye began her marketing career at Mascom Wireless, where she rose to the position of Brand and Communications Manager. Her passion for marketing and commitment to giving back to the community have driven her to leverage her expertise in brand building and management to ensure the success of international events, such as the 2014 Africa Youth Games and the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup Games, where she served on the Marketing and Brand Communications Committees.
